New Beginnings for 2012

This is my first blog for 2012, as I reflect on the last three years I also look forward to the upcoming season.

I have taken a new direction - a different path for 2012. I had to make this decision as I strive towards my dream of the Hawaii Ironman.

The last three years I have had the pleasure and fantastic opportunity to work with one of the most influential people in my triathlon career.

This is one very important person I must thank for helping me to achieve some incredible results. Some of these include a Jnr World Duathlon title way back in 1997, a silver medal at the 1998 Jnr Triathlon World Champs and many wins including the World Record 8hrs:39 in Challenge Roth, 4 Ironman victories including 5 Sub 9's!

This person is Brett Sutton- a person I look up to and have done for the last 15 years. Brett not only got the most out of me athletically but mentally made me into the strong determined and driven person I am today.

Words cant describe how influential this man has been, not just on my sporting career, but lessons in life. Brett taught me how to suffer and endure pain I never thought possible, but he also taught me to find the mental power as an athlete to overcome set backs and believe in my dreams. None of those results I would have without Brett.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank 'The Doc' for everything he has given me over the last 15 years and helping mould me into the individual I am proud to be today.

After this year Brett will possibly be deciding to focus more towards his future as a dad and a family man and less on coaching. I too had to think about my future in the next 3-4 years, which includes qualifying for Hawaii and racing events to support my Hawaii Ironman dream.

In doing this I decided my best option was that I needed to move on this year, which means I will no longer be with TeamTBB.

I will now work extremely hard focusing on my best result at Hawaii for the next 3 -4 years . I hope to achieve my ultimate goal of winning many more Ironmans and possibly the ultimate the Hawaii Ironman.
